Module content

The module will provide the oral hygiene student with an in depth overview of the current status of Periodontics with the emphasis on the clinical application, understanding and role of the oral hygienist as part of the team. The purpose is to train the oral hygiene student to be competent in applying his/her expertise and knowledge in the prevention and treatment of periodontal diseases.

The higher education sector has undergone an extensive alignment to the Higher Education Qualification Sub-Framework (HEQSF) across all institutions in South Africa. In order to comply with the HEQSF, all institutions are legally required to participate in a national initiative led by regulatory bodies such as the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), the Council on Higher Education (CHE), and the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
